LAP Fellowship Endowment

We are pleased to announce the Latin American Perspectives Fellowship Program in support of two or three scholars and their short-term research visits to the special collections in the Library of the University of California, Riverside. The archive comprises the holdings of LAP; Ron Chilcote’s library of some 12,000 books and pamphlets and valuable papers on Latin America and the Third World; and ephemeral material donated by friends of LAP. The aim is to establish one of the world’s significant archives of progressive material on Latin America.

To date, we have raised almost $40,000 for the endowment. Ron and Fran Chilcote secured a foundation grant of $30,000 as a means of initiating the endowment that will allow two or three scholars to make short-term visits to the archive at the University of California Riverside Library’s Special Collections Department.

We need your help. Our objective is to raise $100,000. A brochure (Download Here) describes the program, which needs to raise a minimum additional $40,000 to ensure fellowship awards in the coming academic year.

We want you to think of your contribution as part of a collective effort to a worthy cause which will benefit students and scholars in the future. Our preference is for an outright donation, but we understand some may prefer to pledge over time. A gift pledge card can be downloaded at the top of bottom of this page. We can also use your help. If you know of others who would like to participate or who might be interested in participating, please let us know and we will be happy to contact them.

Your contribution is tax-deductible. All those who choose to participate will have their name inscribed on a plaque in the library and identified in the finder guide to the collection. In this way we can come together collectively and share in this worthy effort.
